For the best RemoteMix experience, we recommend using Google Chrome.

Once connected to RemoteMix with a compatible audio mixer, you'll have control over several key components of your mix.

Control all your audio channels' faders, mute, and pan right from the RemoteMix Dashboard's Mixer view. Use the layer selector (screen-left and under the Mix Target), to switch between the different banks of channels.

Pro tip: Try adjusting your browser’s zoom setting if you would like to see all channels of a layer at once!

Low-Latency Audio Preview

You can't mix audio without hearing what it is you're mixing! Unmute the low-latency audio preview by clicking on the speaker icon shown. Adjust playback volume from your computer and with the volume slider that appears next to the speaker icon.

Low-Latency Video Preview

Click the camera icon as shown to display a low-latency video preview of something like your live stream feed. This opens a pop-up window with the preview. Move the window around, even to another browser tab or a separate monitor for easier viewing.

Mix Target

Select which mix you wish to control by clicking the Mix Target dropdown. This allows you to choose from different mixes that have been set up at the physical mixer. Selection between multiple mix targets is only featured on a Stream Dedicated Mixer (All Access) connection.

Buses

Control of your mixer's bus masters is only featured on a Stream Dedicated Mixer (All Access) connection.

PIN Entry

As an account user in the Owner role, set up a 4-digit PIN for controlling who is permitted access when trying to connect to the mixer remotely. A PIN may be set up while creating the connection, or may be set up by editing an already established connection (as shown below).

Preamp Gain

If you find the gain for a specific channel isn't optimal, click and drag the Gain slider to adjust as needed. Preamp gain is only featured on a Stream Dedicated Mixer (All Access) connection.

Important note: If your mixer connection is set up as a Stream Dedicated mixer but you're actually sharing a single mixer with someone like the front-of-house technician, you will want to discuss who is permitted to touch gain, as changes will impact all mixes.

Channel Processing

Take control of your mixer's gating, EQ, and compression with RemoteMix channel processing. Channel processing controls are only available for your mix target channel when using a Shared Mixer (Restricted) connection.

Important note: If your mixer connection is set up as a Stream Dedicated mixer but you're actually sharing a single mixer with someone like the front-of-house technician, you will want to discuss who is permitted to touch channel processing, as changes will impact all mixes.

Virtual Groups

Virtual Groups are a unique feature of RemoteMix. This allows creating custom groups of channels which you may adjust together, similar to but completely independent of your audio mixer's subgroups or DCAs. You might use Virtual Groups to control multiple channels at once like all instruments, just vocals, or any other combination that suits your mixing workflow. Only the account Owner may create new groups.

Once a group is created, you will see the group’s member channels and levels in the targeted mix, along with a new group fader. The group fader has a red background to represent maximum and minimum levels of the members of the group. As you adjust member channels, this red background will expand or contract accordingly.

It is possible to move the group fader to a point where it no longer changes an individual channel. In the screenshot above for example, the vocal channels are maxed out already, so increasing the level of the group fader will increase the levels of Ch 23, Ch 24, and ST3. However, the levels of M Vox or F Vox will remain unchanged.

Pro Tip: You may use the All Groups view to display all group faders at once, which is handy for quickly tweaking the levels of groups relative to each other, or for quick muting and unmuting. This is a great way to reduce complexity for a new or less-experienced volunteer!

Mains

Lastly, control your main mixes using the Mains section. This is especially useful if you’re using a mixer that has multiple main outputs.

Keyboard Shortcuts

We’ve added some handy keyboard and mouse shortcuts for common functions like quickly navigating around the various screens, snapping faders to unity, and snapping pan knobs to center. Click on the keyboard icon in the upper right corner of your RemoteMix dashboard to see the shortcuts that are available!
