For the best RemoteMix experience, we recommend using Google Chrome.
Once you connect to your audio mixer using RemoteMix, you can control several components of the mix.
On the RemoteMix home screen, you can control all your audio channels - adjust faders, mute channels, and pan left or right. The layer selector on the left-hand side lets you switch between layers/banks of channels. Pro tip: try adjusting your browser’s zoom setting if you’d like to see all 16 channels at once!
You'll also see your Encoder Output, which is what your Spark encoder is streaming live to your audience. From here, you can control the levels of the Spark’s audio inputs, adjust the gain of the Spark’s analog input, or mute either of the Spark inputs. This pane can be minimized to the left once you have the Spark inputs tweaked the way you want.
To preview your live stream, click the video icon. This opens a pop-up window with a low-latency preview of your current live stream. You can move this window to another tab, or even to a separate monitor for easier viewing.
You can also preview only the audio by clicking on the speaker icon.
When you’re previewing audio or video, you can adjust the playback volume on your computer with the volume slider that appears next to the speaker icon.
Stream Dedicated Mixer (All Access) Mode Only: To select what mix you want to control, click on Mix Target on the left hand side of the screen. This will allow you to select mixes that have been set up on the audio mixer.
Stream Dedicated Mixer (All Access) Mode Only: RemoteMix can give you control over the bus masters on your audio mixer.
Virtual groups are a unique feature of RemoteMix. They let you create custom groups of channels that you can adjust together, similar to but completely independent of your audio mixer's groups or DCAs. This allows you to control multiple channels at once, such as all band instruments, vocals, or any other combination that suits your workflow. The account owner can create new virtual groups by selecting channels in the top right corner of the screen.
Once you create a group, you’ll see the group’s member channels levels in the targeted mix, along with a new group fader. The group fader has a red background which represents the maximum and minimum levels of the members of the group. As you adjust the channels, this red background will expand or contract accordingly.
It is possible to move the group fader to a point where it’s no longer changing an individual channel. For example, in the screenshot above, the vocal channels are maxed out already, so increasing the level of the group fader will increase the levels of Ch 23, Ch 24, and ST3, but won’t change the level of M Vox or F Vox.
Pro Tip: You can use the All Groups view to see all of the group faders at once, which is handy for quickly tweaking the levels of groups relative to each other, or for quickly muting or unmuting. This is a great way to reduce complexity for a new or less-experienced volunteer!
Lastly, you can control your main mixes using the mains section. This is especially useful if you’re using a mixer that has multiple main outputs.
Keep in mind, when your mixer is in restricted mode, you won't be able to:
Create new Virtual groups
Change the Mix Target
Disconnect and reconnect an audio mixer.
One last tip: We’ve added some handy keyboard and mouse shortcuts for common functions like quickly navigating around the various screens, snapping faders to unity, and snapping pan knobs to center. Click on the keyboard icon in the upper righthand corner of the RemoteMix dashboard to see the shortcuts that are available!
